Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy (OVCA) is now accepting enrollments for the 2020-2021 school year. A tuition-free public charter school, OVCA serves students statewide in kindergarten through 12th grade.

With innovative technology, inspiring teachers and an interactive curriculum, OVCA’s online and blended learning and instruction platform gives students the opportunity to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment that recognizes their individual learning styles.

“At OVCA, we’re providing a personalized learning environment that goes beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to instruction,” said Audra Plummer, Head of School. “We are giving our students the academic and social experiences that will prepare them for a bright future and motivate them to discover all that they are capable of achieving.”

OVCA students access the school’s curriculum anywhere with an internet connection, and attend live virtual classes taught by state-certified teachers. Students are offered a yearlong full course load in the core subjects of English/language arts, math, science and history, as well as elective options such as world languages, arts, music, technology and career exploration.

Within the first few weeks of the school year, high school students work with staff to create a graduation plan, which might include concurrent college enrollment, Advanced Placement® coursework, or internships outside of school. “Working as their partners from the very first day of school helps our students create a roadmap towards their college and career goals from the start,” said Ms. Plummer.

Students choose to attend public school at home for a variety of reasons, including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment, and the ability to support extracurricular pursuits or medical needs while focusing on academic goals.

To support academic success, OVCA families are connected via the school’s Community Family Advisor program. Families are assigned an OVCA Community Family Advisor to help connect with other students and families in their local communities.

OVCA also offers virtual student organizations and in-person field trips, social outings, and other activities throughout the year, and will host in-person tutoring around the state for the 2020-2021 school year. The school also hosts an in-person graduation ceremony and high school prom each spring.

OVCA is available tuition-free to students in grades K-12 who reside anywhere in Oklahoma. To learn more about the school, how to enroll, and a schedule of upcoming events visit ovca.k12.com.
