Strateos, Inc., a pioneer in the development of remote access laboratories and lab control software for life science research, today announced the launch of its SmartLab Software which enables research organizations of any size to manage scientific workflows and integrate automation. This modular, cloud-based software platform addresses common challenges in research operations and scientific experiment execution, even in labs with no automation currently. With the SmartLab Software, laboratories will have the ability to toggle between on-site facility control and Strateos’ remote-controlled SmartLab Studios, advancing the digitization of laboratories via the industry’s only hybrid lab solution.

“Our SmartLab software is the only solution focused on accelerating discovery by connecting the on-site life science R&D lab with an ecosystem of remote-controlled facilities. The Collaborate module is the first in a suite of three modules that together will create combined solutions enabling the improved management of automated and semi-automated R&D programs at any scale,” said Alok Gupta, Senior Vice President of Engineering, at Strateos. “Strateos SmartLab Software will help scientists define and execute their scientific workflows – both on-site and off-site – from a single software interface fundamentally transforming the way life science is being conducted. Not only will it liberate scientists from managing the complexities of disparate hardware and software, it will also enable a greater focus on designing experiments, developing new hypotheses and generating reproducible data in an automated fashion.”

Strateos SmartLab Collaborate, the first available product module released today, focuses on solving operational challenges found in core labs, such as managing experimental requests, asset and workflow calendaring, and executing between teams and individual users. The SmartLab Collaborate module enables automatic data capture and centralizes scientific workflows to accelerate the design-make-test-analyze cycle and generate clean AI-enabled data that will aid in the discovery of new scientific insights. SmartLab Collaborate will be followed by additional modules, each of which will expand the capabilities of the SmartLab Software Platform and simplify scientific instrument integrations for both on-site systems and with Strateos’ remote laboratories.

“Most research labs have been operating in non-standard, archaic ways for decades. Strateos provides a turn-key solution for any lab to scale their workflows and bring their operations into the 21st century. With the SmartLab Software Platform, we have effectively removed the barriers to more automated workflows and aim to drive accelerated discovery by providing solutions that enable reproducibility, scalability and ease of use, none of which are easy to accomplish with the current industry norms,” said Ben Miles, PhD, Head of Product Management at Strateos.

Strateos provides cloud access to its two SmartLab Studios in Menlo Park and San Diego, California, which together represent more than 14,000 square feet of laboratory space, 25 automation modules and 200-plus state-of-the-art research instruments tailored to the application needs of small-molecule and biologics drug discovery, cell and gene therapies and synthetic biology. These remote-controlled, secure labs are accessed through the web-based SmartLab Software.
