SmartThings, the leader in automation and the easy way to make homes smart, today announces an exciting integration with Sonos and the SmartThings platform. This integration makes it even easier for SmartThings users to seamlessly control Sonos speakers through the SmartThings app and add speakers to home automations. Working closely to ensure the best experience for customers, the companies are jointly certified under the Works with SmartThings and Works with Sonos partner ecosystems, combining the smart control of the SmartThings app with Sonos’ sound experience.
Both Sonos and Samsung bring leading expertise and existing global scale to the smart home market, and this partnership opens the door for the companies to deliver new sound experiences to customers through an open developer platform.
The first milestone of this partnership delivers new features in the SmartThings app that offer convenience and delight to the companies’ joint customers. SmartThings users can now easily discover and add Sonos One, Amp, Beam, or Play:5 (Gen 2) to their SmartThings ecosystem, giving them the ability to seamlessly control speakers through the SmartThings app and add speakers to home automations. Users will have access to features in the app including:
- The ability to play, pause, skip tracks, and control volume on Sonos speakers
- Artist and track information, album art, and access to Sonos favorites
- The ability to enable sound notifications on Sonos speakers and add Sonos to home automations, like starting or stopping music as you enter or leave the house
- A direct connection between SmartThings and Sonos devices for faster control of music
“As long-standing partners, we’re excited to continue to innovate with Sonos to bring high quality, connected home experiences to our customers,” said Amber Kappa, the Vice President of Platform Partnerships & Business Development at SmartThings. “We want to make enjoying music as easy as possible with seamless control of their listening experiences and environment with Sonos’ world class devices.”
