Scalyr, the log management and observability company that helps
engineers spend less time troubleshooting and more time building value,
today announced that after a highly successful and oversubscribed beta
program, PowerQueries
is now generally available. Over 25 customers signed up to test the beta
release of PowerQueries, highlighting the interest and need for this set
of advanced search functionality. Many beta customers were able to get
immediate value from PowerQueries, solving issues even faster than they
were already able to with Scalyr’s existing search capabilities.

“Scalyr’s PowerQueries give me the power to easily aggregate and drill
down into our logs,” said Aaron Bannin, Engineer at Flexport, the first
Operating System for Global Trade. “The interface is simple and fast,
and within one week PowerQueries have already become an indispensable
tool in understanding our system.” Flexport serves more than 10,000
clients and suppliers across more than 200 countries, offering a full
range of services, including ocean, air, truck and rail freight, drayage
& cartage, warehousing, customs brokerage, financing and insurance – all
informed and powered by their purpose-built cloud software and data
analytics platform.

“PowerQueries have performed well in beta testing over the past month,”
said Steve Newman, founder and chairman of Scalyr. “We received a lot of
valuable feedback and we have a healthy list of additional features
planned. However, based on the rapid uptake and overwhelmingly positive
response to the beta, we’ve decided to make PowerQueries available to
all of our customers. Of course, no software product is ever finished,
and we’ll continue to enhance PowerQueries as we encounter additional
use cases and requirements. Our #1 criterion for release was to provide
the performance and ease-of-use at scale that Scalyr has always been
known for.”

PowerQueries are a new set of data operations within Scalyr that give
users the ability to transform and manipulate data on the fly. They let
users seamlessly pivot from facet-based search to complex log search
operations for complicated data sets, such as grouping, transformations,
filtering and sorting, table lookups and joins, enabling them to create
sophisticated data processing pipelines. PowerQueries leverage Scalyr’s
real-time data processing engine and retain the industry-leading
performance, ease-of-use and scalability that customers have come to
expect from Scalyr.

“I have been working with the new PowerQueries feature against my
database logs. It is great! I actually prefer it because it is similar
to a SQL interface,” said John Pruitt, Senior Database Administrator at
Shipt, the nation’s fastest growing online grocery marketplace that
connects members to fresh groceries and everyday essentials through a
user-friendly app and a local network of reliable shoppers. Shipt
operates in over 260 cities, offers quality, personalized grocery
delivery to tens of millions of households across the United States, and
is a wholly owned subsidiary of Target.

“We’re pleased to see our customers embrace PowerQueries which helps
engineers solve hard problems and find the truth with unmatched speed,”
said Christine Heckart, CEO of Scalyr. “I’m proud of how Scalyr’s
engineering team breaks down complexity and creates industry-unique
solutions that make our product easy and fast to use enabling site
reliability engineers and DevOps teams to troubleshoot problems in real
time.”
