The annual GCV Powerlist assessed more than 2,200 corporate venturing
units worldwide based on an evaluation of thought leadership, vision,
and demonstrated motivational abilities, as well as its portfolio of
acquisitions, investments and business partnerships.

Launched in 2015, Accenture
Ventures
acts as a bridge to the global innovation ecosystem by
bringing Accenture’s clients together with best-in-class,
enterprise-relevant startups to unlock their growth potential and
accelerate digital transformation. A vital part of the Accenture
Innovation Architecture
, Accenture Ventures also makes targeted
equity investments in emerging technology startups, matching their
capabilities with the business needs and priorities of Accenture’s
clients.

“Each year we look for those in global corporate venturing who don’t
just lead within their organizations, but also exemplify the best that
the industry has to offer: talent, diversity of approach and a strong,
impactful track record,” said James Mawson, founder of Global Corporate
Venturing. “Mike Redding’s elite position in Powerlist top 10 is a
reflection of his industry leadership and Accenture Ventures’ success.”

Paul Daugherty, chief technology & innovation officer at Accenture
added, “Accenture Ventures and its global network have unlocked exciting
new growth opportunities for our clients by bringing them together with
leading startups to co-develop innovative new solutions. GCV’s
recognition of Mike and his Accenture Ventures team underscores the
significant impact they’re having on the success of our clients and
Accenture’s culture of innovation.”

The GCV
Powerlist
highlights Redding’s leadership in expanding Accenture
Ventures’ impact by combining what was then its existing investment
team, including GCV
2019 Rising Star Pramila Mullan
, with its broader open innovation
initiative. The open innovation program had been previously established
to act as a “bridge-maker” between startups, accelerators, and VCs with
innovation programs at Accenture’s enterprise clients. Combining the two
created a superior corporate strategic capability that Redding describes
as a systematic program of “local heroes, global champions.”

Under Redding’s leadership, Accenture Ventures has grown to encompass
teams and representatives in 39 countries. Recently, Accenture Ventures
established a team in China and made its first
local investment
in Malong Technologies, an artificial intelligence
startup headquartered in Shenzhen.
