An independent panel of judges from the aerospace and defense community selected Logos Technologies as a Platinum honoree, recognizing the company for its “groundbreaking” and “superb” multi-sensor system.

“On behalf of the Military & Aerospace Electronics Innovators Awards, I would like to congratulate Logos Technologies on their Platinum-level honoree status,” said John Keller, Military & Aerospace Electronics editor-in-chief. “This competitive program allows Military & Aerospace Electronics to celebrate and recognize the most innovative products impacting the aerospace and defense community this year.”

The MMSP was unveiled for the very first time this past October at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Meeting and Exposition, in Washington, D.C. Designed to be mounted on planes, helicopters and Group 3 – 5 unmanned aircraft systems, the pod weighs less than 100 pounds (45 kg), meaning it can fly on aircraft such as the MQ-1C Gray Eagle, yet houses:

  • An EO/IR wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) system;
  • A wide-area hyperspectral imager;
  • A high-resolution spotter for full motion video; and
  • An onboard embedded processor for real-time processing and storage.

The WAMI system images a city-sized area in medium resolution, while tipping off the narrow-field spotter to provide identification-level imagery. The wide-area hyperspectral imager, meanwhile, scans the city-sized area for unique spectral signatures of items such as camouflaging netting, explosive stores, tank hulls, etc. Finally, the embedded processor processes each sensor’s mission data, can cross-cue between sensors and stores that data on board, all accessible in real time by users on the ground.

No other lightweight sensor pod can do that much on one platform, in one sortie.

“We are very gratified to be honored by Military & Aerospace Electronics for our Multi-Modal Sensor Pod,” said John Marion, President of Logos Technologies. “We believe that it is a real game-changing technology that will act as a force multiplier for commanders in the field.”
