Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) today announced it gained 1.5 percentage points in market share, and attained a tie for the number one position in the server market during the second quarter of 2019, according to the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Server Tracker. In addition, HPE/New H3C outperformed all competitors in worldwide revenue for blade, 4-socket x86, and modular servers.

HPE/New H3C achieved 18 percent market share, twice as much than each of the following three vendors – Inspur/Inspur Power Systems (7.2 percent), Lenovo (6.1 percent) and IBM (5.9 percent).

HPE maintains a strong presence in China through a unique partnership with New H3C, in which HPE owns a 49 percent stake and the Chinese company Unisplendour Corporation owns a 51 percent share. This structure enables HPE to participate in the fastest-growing IT market in the world, through HPE’s sale of products to New H3C for resale in the China market.

“HPE’s and New H3C’s server market share gains demonstrate the momentum our server business is generating in the marketplace,” said Justin Hotard, senior vice president and general manager, Volume Global Business Unit, HPE. “We power innovation from the edge to cloud to create new experiences and drive business outcomes with our agile servers that offer unmatched security, automation and workload-optimization. Our customers have come to rely on HPE servers to deliver the highest performance for their critical workloads no matter how large or small their businesses are.”

HPE recently launched the new HPE ProLiant DL385 and DL325 servers based on the 2nd Gen AMD EPYC™ processor, delivering record-breaking performance in virtualization and server power efficiency to allow customers to run more workloads for emerging cloud, big data and IoT applications, while reducing overall resources. New servers are offered as-a-service via HPE GreenLake, a pay-as-you-go IT model, to provide customers a cloud-like experience on-premises without traditional investment in new equipment.
