FileShadow,
Inc. today announces “Edit in Place” for native editing of files stored
in a FileShadow vault. Using the macOS or Microsoft Windows 10 apps,
users can now find and edit files on their local or virtual desktop
using familiar, native applications. As the files are modified, they are
automatically protected as a revision within the FileShadow vault.

FileShadow aggregates files from multiple storage sources including
cloud storage services (iCloud, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe’s Lightroom
solutions, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and OneDrive for
Business) and local storage (macOS, Windows Desktops, and Drobo network
and direct attached storage (NAS/DAS) devices*) into one secure cloud
vault. The service provides a single, secure location to access and
search files across multiple locations.

Recently, FileShadow announced thin provisioned storage services for
virtual desktops, providing access to large file vaults without
synchronizing data to the virtual desktop server. Now, virtual desktop
users can edit a file and save it to FileShadow, giving them the ability
to access all versions of their files in a virtual location. In
addition, FileShadow helps IT departments save money by minimizing the
amount of local storage allocated on their macOS and Windows machines,
and virtual desktop servers.

“Our previous versions focused on accessing content, regardless of where
is was located. Today’s release enhances our service to enable direct
‘editing in place’ of those protected files,” said Tyrone Pike,
president and CEO of FileShadow. “It benefits both corporate IT and
individuals, especially those employing virtual desktops.”

FileShadow delivers “11 Nines” of durability, assuring that assets
stored will be quickly accessible, fully protected and available for a
lifetime in a secure cloud vault.

“Using FileShadow for storage combined with virtual desktops creates a
more secure storage solution for IT departments, while giving users
access to all of their data as soon as the desktop finishes launching,”
Pike said.

The FileShadow Service is free of charge for up to 100 GB of data.
Subscriptions are available for more storage ($15/month for 1 TB;
$25/month for 2 TB; each additional terabyte is $10/month).
Subscriptions for FileShadow for Virtual Desktops are available for
$25/month for 2 TB and each additional terabyte is $10/month.
