St. Francis’ administration collaborated with the parents of their students and local law enforcement to come up with a safety plan to protect their teachers and students for today’s challenging environment. They selected Enseo’s MadeSafe as their technology solution. St. Francis is home to approximately 900 students and 240 faculty and staff across 13 buildings on 2 campuses.

Teachers and staff are equipped with wearable buttons that, when activated, send the staff member’s precise location to response personnel including administrative officials, school nurses, and police officers. In fact, local law enforcement receives direct notification via text message and email for every alert. MadeSafe accelerates first responders’ arrival time to the location to give aid or assistance. First responders agree that faster response to an emergency saves lives. MadeSafe gives this advantage to all the students, teachers and administrators of St. Francis’ two campuses.

MadeSafe alerts from Enseo’s school installations have included student medical emergencies, special-need student issues, student to student altercations, and encounters with suspicious persons on campus. The solution also protects privacy as teachers and staff are not and cannot be tracked until the MadeSafe button is pressed.

Teachers and staff appreciate MadeSafe’s ability to quickly and reliably notify first responders when they need assistance. They can focus on teaching and leading the students who are relying on them in each classroom. “SFE takes the safety and security of our students and staff as our first priority. We chose MadeSafe after doing extensive research and reviewing the feedback of schools that currently have MadeSafe. Because of MadeSafe’s proven track record and ease of use, they were the best option for us,” said Associate Head of School for Programs, Don Hicks.

“The safety and security of students and teachers around the country should be a priority for everyone in the United States. I am honored to be a part of the team protecting the children and teachers at St. Francis Episcopal School. I am excited for the students and teachers to be able to focus on learning and know that help will be on the way at the quick push of a button. We worked hard to design a solution that was not only accurate, affordable, and scalable for both small private schools and large public schools,” said Vanessa Ogle, CEO and Mom.

MadeSafe creates a 3-D map of the entire school campus that is available on the MadeSafe station as well as on mobile devices of authorized personnel. Alerts are sent out as text and email to designated first responders. MadeSafe can be implemented on any kind of network: ethernet, fiber optic, coax or wi-fi.

The MadeSafe school safety system relies on technology, including U.S. Patents, from CatapultTech LLC as its technology partner.
