Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross presented Earth Networks
with the President’s “E” Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington,
D.C. In total, Secretary Ross honored 48 U.S. companies with the
President’s “E” Award, the highest recognition any U.S. entity can
receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S.
exports.

“Earth Networks has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export
expansion. The “E” Awards Committee was very impressed with Earth
Networks’ presence in 46 countries. The company’s growth in export and
international licensing sales over the past four years was also
particularly notable. Earth Networks’ achievements have undoubtedly
contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S.
economy and create American jobs,” said Secretary Ross in his
congratulatory letter to the company announcing its selection as an
award recipient.

Earth
Networks
helps government organizations and large commercial
enterprises around the globe mitigate financial, operational and human
risk by providing real-time environmental intelligence from the world’s
largest hyperlocal weather observation and lightning detection networks.
Anchored by the company’s Total Lightning NetworkTM, Earth
Networks weather intelligence solutions include access to real-time
lightning observations, alerting and decision support tools, and outdoor
alerting capabilities to help our partners and customers be informed
about potential severe weather and receive increased lead time to
respond to dangerous weather events.

“We are honored to receive the President’s “E” Award and for the
acknowledgement that our severe weather early warning services are
helping improve access to critical weather information around the
world,” said Rich Spaulding, CEO of Earth Networks. “By exporting
reliable weather data and decision support services, Earth Networks
helps nation states and international industries adapt to increasing
severe weather threats impacting public safety and economic development,
especially in the emerging regions of the world.”

In 2018, U.S. exports were the highest on record with U.S. services at
$821.1 billion and U.S. exports of goods reaching $1.7 trillion,
demonstrating how American private enterprise can not only survive, but
thrive, in the international market.

American companies are nominated for “E” Awards through the U.S. and
Foreign Commercial Service office network, located within the U.S.
Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. Record
years of successive export growth and an applicant’s demonstration of an
innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in
exports is a significant factor in selecting the overall winners.
