Axis Communications, the global leader in network video, marks the 10th consecutive year of support for the 73rd Annual Little League Baseball® World Series (LLBWS), which kicks off tomorrow at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport, PA.

As the 10-day baseball tournament has a unique set of security needs, Axis has collaborated with the Little League to help provide safety and security measures for the players, coaches and fans. Over the years, the system was designed to enable a comprehensive, integrated, and flexible security solution used by multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agencies. Throughout the partnership, Little League has leveraged a variety of Axis products, including thermal, panoramic, PTZ, fixed box, and fixed dome network cameras. They have also used Axis’ radar technology as well as perimeter detection analytics.

“Each year we look forward to working with Little League Baseball and Softball and helping them advance their security system,” said Robert Muehlbauer, Senior Manager, Business Development Partner Ecosystem, Axis Communications, Inc. “Over the years our relationship has grown and ten years later Axis is helping to protect South Williamsport, PA Little League Baseball and Softball facilities, parking lots, visitor and player entrances/exits, and baseball fields. We’re proud of and look forward to continuing our work with Little League Baseball. Lastly, good luck to the 16 teams that will be competing this year!”

This year’s comprehensive security system was created in partnership with Honeywell, Milestone Systems, BriefCam, Ruckus Networks, an ARRIS Company, and Rasilient Systems. Having a comprehensive security system in place allows Little League to promote a fun, family-friendly environment while helping to ensure spectator safety.

Spectator safety and surveillance at sporting events is top of mind, especially at a family-friendly one such as this. Along with the safety and well-being of all the players, coaches, volunteers, and fans at the World Series, one of the main uses of the system is to reunite lost parents when their children forgot where their parents were sitting. Through video surveillance and specialized analytics, the security system allows for reunions to happen quickly, calming both the parents and the children.

“We are grateful for the dedication, support, and technology that Axis Communications, and the organizations it works with, provide to the Little League Baseball World Series each year,” said David B. Houseknecht, Little League Senior Vice President of Administration and Chief Financial Officer. “Thanks to their continued support, we are able to provide hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world with a safe and welcoming environment to enjoy this unique event each summer.”
