ArmadaHealth, a leading provider of physician recommendations, and its Board of Directors, are pleased to announce effective March 13, 2020, the appointment of Susan Torroella to President and Chief Executive Officer. An award-winning healthcare executive, Torroella brings to the position tremendous healthcare knowledge and experience. Her accomplishments and dynamic leadership have been widely recognized throughout the industry and will be a driving force to push Armada forward.

“We are so excited to harness Susan’s experience and leadership at the helm of ArmadaHealth,” said Kip Oberting, ArmadaHealth Board Chairman. “Her predecessor, Steve (Schaefer) did a tremendous job growing ArmadaHealth into an exciting and innovative brand in Healthcare IT, and I’m looking forward to supporting Susan, as she leads us into our next phase of redefining the entire industry of patient care.”

Recently recognized by Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association as the “STAR for Strategic Transformation” in 2020, Torroella’s guidance as Chief Operating Officer has led ArmadaHealth to successfully deepen its B2B presence with the launch of QualityCare Connect℠– an evidence-based physician recommendations service – and a first-of-its-kind Navigation-as-a-Service platform, QualityCare Navigator℠, successfully extending ArmadaHealth’s reach and presence into consumer-facing healthcare solutions, nationwide.

“Our achievements thus far have pioneered a new healthcare sector – referred to as Clinical Navigation – which barely existed just two years ago,” said Torroella. “The confluence of rising consumerism and the opaqueness in healthcare quality is what has driven us to this point. I remain highly focused on pushing forward our mission to help as many people as possible get the right start on their healthcare journey. I am flattered and grateful at the opportunity to lead this stellar team into the future frontier of our industry.”

Prior to joining ArmadaHealth in 2018, Torroella was Executive Vice President at Wellness Corporate Solutions, where she oversaw strategic partnerships, program management and company operations. During Torroella’s tenure, the company experienced exponential growth, launched new products and enhanced its operational capabilities – positioning the company for its acquisition by LabCorp. Torroella also spent five years as President of FrontierMEDEX Medical Assistance Services, where she grew and diversified the company revenue, driving operational improvements and increasing performance, which lead to its acquisition by UnitedHealth Group in 2012.

Torroella has been recognized by the Wall Street Journal as “Boss of the Year,” Ernst & Young as a finalist in “Entrepreneur of the Year,” PharmaVoice as “100 Most Inspiring Leaders in Life Sciences” and the Daily Record as a “Top 100 Women in Maryland.” She is also on the Board of the American Heart Association and Executive Leadership team of the Go Red for Women Mission.
