Aperia
Technologies Inc.
, a leading supplier of tire management
technologies that improve the safety and efficiency of commercial
vehicle tractors and trailers, has received a 2019 Business
Environmental Innovation Award from Acterra, the Bay area’s most
prestigious recognition program for sustainable business practices.

Aperia was honored in the Environmental Innovation category for its Halo
Tire Inflator, a world leading tire inflation solution for the
commercial trucking industry. The award recognizes companies which have
demonstrated exceptional environmental leadership or innovation.

“The time for a healthier planet is now,” said Judith Monte, Vice
President of Marketing & Customer Success for Aperia Technologies. “We
are honored to receive this significant award from a highly respected
environmental advocacy organization, and we take great pride in creating
and providing tire management solutions to truck fleets that have a
proven, positive impact on the environment.”

Thirteen local companies and organizations reached the finals. The
winners were selected from five different categories. Aperia
Technologies will accept its award at an Acterra ceremony honoring the
winners on May 22 in San Francisco.

“The dedication of Aperia to help the trucking industry improve fuel
efficiency, extend tire life, reduce CO2 emissions, and with a payback
time attractive to the trucking industry is outstanding,” said Hillary
Rupert, Acting Director of Business Partnerships for Sustainability at
Acterra.

Used extensively in heavy-duty trucks since 2015, the Halo is a
revolutionary automatic tire inflation system for trucks and trailers
that bolts on in minutes. It has become the tire inflation system of
choice for more than 450 fleet customers in part because of the
technology’s significant environmental benefits.

“Heavy-duty trucks are the second largest and fastest growing segment of
the country’s transportation sector in terms of emissions and energy
use,” Monte said. “The CO2 savings from installing Halo on every tractor
and trailer in the United States is the equivalent of removing 1.9
million passenger vehicles from the road each year.”

In a recent Aperia case study with a top 20 fleet, 10 tractors equipped
with Halos drove over 1 million miles during a 12-month test span. The
results:

  • 1.1 percent increased MPG
  • 14.4 percent extended tire life
  • 34 tons of CO2 emissions avoided

Presented annually to companies, nonprofits and public agencies that
have demonstrated exceptional environmental leadership or innovation,
the Acterra Business Environmental Awards are considered one of the
area’s oldest and most prestigious recognition programs for sustainable
business practices. Acterra is a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit that
brings people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet.

Each Business Environmental Awards finalists underwent individual site
visits and evaluations by a judging panel.
