Alabama Virtual Academy to Celebrate 2020 Graduates with Online Commencement Ceremony

Sponsored by Businesswire

Alabama Virtual Academy at Eufaula City Schools (ALVA-ECS), an online public school serving students in grades K-12 throughout the state, will celebrate the Class of 2020 during a virtual commencement ceremony on Friday, May 8th.

ALVA is inviting all families and friends worldwide to join the celebration.

Collectively, the Class of 2020 reports it has been accepted to trade schools, colleges and universities across the country, including: the University of Alabama, Mississippi State University, the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of West Georgia, and Auburn University at Montgomery.

“Our students have worked so hard to get to this day, and the ALVA community could not be prouder of them,” said ALVA Head of School Dr. Melissa Stokke Larson. “Wherever their path leads them, the tools they’ve earned and the skills they’ve honed in the online classroom will help drive their success moving forward.”

Students enroll in ALVA for a number of reasons—some are looking to escape bullying, some may have fallen academically off track, and others are looking for an alternative to the traditional classroom setting. ALVA students access a robust online curriculum in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, history, art and music as well as a host of electives. These live virtual classes are taught by Alabama-certified teachers.
