BT Powers Michelin’s IT Transformation With Networks, Security And UC

BT is to transform Michelin’s IT infrastructure, upgrading its network and security tools, and rolling out unified communications services across 43 countries.

The French tyre manufacturer agreed a five year deal with BT Global Services late last year and the partners are now in the late deployment phase of the project.

Michelin will manage the infrastructure at 216 sites from France and will be supported by a network operations centre and centralised network management from BT.

In recent times.  BTGS has strengthened its ‘cloud of clouds’ strategy with security from Trend Micro and direct access to public cloud platforms such as the Oracle Cloud. However the unit has had a troubled few months.

An accounting scandal in Italy resulted in a £500 million write down at BT and there are suggestions BT could sell the unit.

A number of significant UK clients are served under BT Business, including the Co-operative Group which has just entered into a five year deal of its own.
