Samsung Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge UK Pre-Orders Opening March 20

British smartphone fanatics will be able to secure their own Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge from later this week, following the news that the company is opening up UK pre-orders from Friday.

Set to go on sale on April 10, both devices will be able to order both from the Samsung store and from high street retailers and networks including Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, Three, EE and O2.

However, there’s still no definite word on the pricing of the devices.

“The response to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge devices has been overwhelming, the entirely redefined smartphones offer consumers what’s next in mobility,” said Conor Pierce, vice president IT & mobile at Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland. “At Samsung, we don’t talk about what might be possible tomorrow, we make it happen today and that’s why we’re bringing people new technology faster than anybody else.”

Revealed at Mobile World Congress last month after months of speculation, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge (pictured left) marks Samsung’s biggest effort yet to take the lead in the global smartphone market.

This already seems to be paying fruit, with the company revealing earlier this month that it had already secured 20 million pre-orders of both devices.

Both devices feature a 5.1in QuadHD 577ppi Super AMOLED screen and two souped-up camera which the company says trounces that of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The 16MP rear and 5MP front-facing camera feature F1.9 lenses and high-resolution sensors to provide superior image quality, even in low light, thanks to new technology which combines multiple images to create the best photo.

They are powered by the world’s first 14nm 64-bit octa-core processor along with a newly-developed LPDDR4 RAM which Samsung says makes the 6.8mm thick device one of the fastest in the world.
