Photos of ‘the next big thing’ revealed days before March 1 reveal event at Mobile World Congress

The wait for one of the most hotly-anticipated smartphones of the year could be nearly over following leaked photos purporting to truthfully show the Samsung Galaxy S6.

American carrier T-Mobile US has published images said to be of the device, which was set to be formally unveiled at a media event in Barcelona on March 1.

The news was tweeted out by T-Mobile US CEO John Legere on Sunday night, linking to a page on the company’s website with pre-order information and a side-on photo of the Samsung Galaxy S6 (main image). This was then followed by fellow US network AT&T also tweeting an image (below) and launching a teaser site with pre-order details.

Heralding that ‘the next big thing is almost here’, both sites photos appear to confirm rumours that the Galaxy S6 will have a curved display much like Samsung’s Edge device, which was able to show notifications on the side of the fully-metal body. However the images of the S6 show curving on two sides of the device, which could be linking to an easier to handle design or further display functions.

The site also confirms the launch date as ‘Spring 2015’, thought to be in April, although we’ll have to wait for Samsung to confirm this.

The reveal follows the supposed leak of the HTC One M9 earlier today by two German retailers, effectively giving us an early look at two of the most hotly-tipped mobile devices ahead of MWC next week.

And with both launch events scheduled on the afternoon of March 1, both companies will be fighting for the world’s attention with their new smartphones.
