Motorola’s Moto X Force Smartphone Has ‘Uncrackable’ Screen

Clumsy smartphone owners should take notE of the Moto X Force, which Motorola says has the world’s first “shatterproof” display.

The company says research shows one in five smartphone owners have a cracked or shattered screen and claims the Moto X Force will not shatter even it is dropped.

A 5.4-inch Quad HD AMOLED display is one of five layers that comprise Moto Shattershield technology. The display is flexible to absorb shock, while the dual touch layer on top is designed to work just as well after an accident. An interior lens offers a protective shield against damage, while an exterior lens hardcoats the screen to protect against wear and tear.

Motorola boldly claims that the device is warranted against shattering and cracking for four years, but scratches and other types of damage are not. The Moto X Force is not shockproof and other types of damage, beyond the screen, might occur if the handset is dropped.

The system is powered by a 2.0 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It also has a 21 megapixel rear camera and five megapixel front facing sensor, while users can customise the colours and materials of their device through MotoMaker.

Motorola says the Moto X Force has a battery life of 48 hours through ‘mixed use’ and can be chargd to last 13 hours in just 15 minutes using ‘TurboPower charging.’ PMA and Qi wireless charging is also supported.

The 32GB version costs £499 without a contract and the 64GB edition £534, however both can be supplemented by a MicroSD card of up to 2TB.

Lenovo, which bought Motorola Mobility from Google last year, commands 5.34 percent of the world smartphone market according to recent figures from IDC.
