Twitter Suffers Worldwide Outage

Twitter users across the world were struck with fear this morning as the social media platform suffered an ongoing outage, particularly affecting users in the UK and Europe.

Users are currently reporting problems with logging in to Twitter, with the website displaying a “something is technically wrong” message for web and mobile users. Users in India also reported problems this morning.

Issues

“Between 06:23AM and 06:33AM PST some users were experiencing issues accessing Twitter via mobile and web,” said Twitter in an official announcement.

“This issue has now been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

But thousands of users are still reporting problems accessing the website.

Outage tracker Down Detector shows problems started around 06.30am, with London hit particularly bad. Other areas affected are France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Twitter confirmed the outage on its @support Twitter account, writing: “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution.”

The company’s API status page also shows that four of the five APIs are suffering problems.
