HTC Unveils Business-Focused VR Headset

More businesses than ever could soon be utilising the power of virtual reality after HTC announced an enterprise-focused version of its Vive VR headset.

The HTC Vive Business Edition (Vive BE) looks to target businesses that want to expand their technological horizons, with the company noting that sectors such as design, automotive and health could all benefit from using virtual reality.

Vive BE will be available from later this month, costing £849.


In addition to the existing Vive technology, the business edition offers commercial licensing, a dedicated Business Edition customer support line and a 12-month limited warranty. Businesses will also be able to buy multiple Vive BE systems, with the option to order large quantities if needed.

“With Vive BE, we are answering the overwhelming demand from global industries for a complete VR experience, to provide innovative solutions for their business needs,” said Daniel O’Brien, VP of VR at HTC.

“Expediting the growth of partner organisations through application of Vive technology is an incredibly important part of our ongoing VR strategy, and will ensure Vive continues to be at the forefront of the enterprise sector.”

HTC’s original consumer-focused Vive went on sale in the UK last month, costing £689 – with 15,000 headsets being sold in ten minutes when pre-orders opened back in March.

Developed alongside with gaming studio Valve, the device comes with two wireless VR controllers, room scale movement sensors, and a Head Mounted Display (HMD) featuring a built in camera and phone services, plus three VR “experiences” including an app developed by Google that lets users paint in 3D space.

As well as this, users will also be able to receive and respond to both incoming and missed phone calls using HTC’s Vive Phone Services – which also allows users to get text messages and send quick replies and check upcoming calendar invites directly through the headset.
