Pornhub Gets Touchy-Feely With The Man-Powered Wearable

Wearable technology devices are all the rage right now, with device manufacturers looking to grab a slice of what has become an increasingly lucrative market.

But asides from selfishly tracking your own progress, how many devices can help you save the planet as well?

Notorious x-rated video database Pornhub thinks it has the answer, and the solution could be sitting in front of you right now. The adult ‘entertainment’ site has today revealed the Wankband, a new wearable that looks to dial into your extra-curricular habits to provide clean(ish) energy for the planet.

Bedroom (eco) warriors

At first glance, the device resembles many other smartbands on the market today, but the Wankband looks to harness the kinetic energy created from rapid movements. The band contains a valve with a small weight inside, which generates and stores energy when moved in an up and down fashion.

A kinetic energy charger inside the band stores the energy created, which can then be used to charge up your mobile devices via a USB port.

Pornhub says there are ‘no limits’ to what users can do with a Wankband, which probably raises more questions than necessary – see the video below for more details.

“Every day, millions of hours of adult content are consumed online, wasting energy in the process and hurting the environment,” the site said. “At Pornhub we decided to do something about it. Introducing the Wankband: The first wearable tech that allows you to love the planet by loving yourself.”

There are no details yet on price or release date, but interested parties can register for more details online.

The Wankband is far from the only adult-themed wearable on the market today – last month saw the release of the GeeksMe tracker, which offers a sex tracking service for those worried about their performance between the sheets.

Such devices will likely remain niche for the time being though, good news for the third of people surveyed by app developer Apadmi who said they would feel embarrassed or self-conscious if they wore wearable tech as it currently appears.
