Google Glass Removed From The Web

Google Glass is likely to receive its upgrade sooner than expected after a number of social media accounts for the device were removed from the Internet.

The Twitter, Google+ and Instagram accounts relating to Google Glass have all been taken down in the past few days, fuelling speculation that a new version of the device is set to be released soon, according to 9to5Google.

“Hi Explorers, we’ve had a blast hanging out with you on G+ throughout the Explorer Program,” a message on the the Google Glass Google+ official account read, providing a link to Google’s support page for Glass to answer any further questions.

Comeback

This could well be the ‘Enterprise Edition’ of Google Glass which was reportedly sent out to business customers last autumn, as Google decided to cut its losses in the consumer market and instead focus on enterprise customers.

This new generation of Glass apparently features a redesigned rectangular body and button-and-hinge system to attach the mini-computer to other units, to customers in the health care, manufacturing and energy industries, among others.

This was meant to be accompanied by a new consumer-facing edition of Glass, which was reportedly sent out to software developers last Autumn to help them create business-focused apps.

Despite no longer being on public sale, Google Glass, which originally cost $1,500 to purchase, still manages to hold a fair bit of attention in the technology space, with rumours about a comeback surfacing regularly.

Last September, Reports have claimed that Glass, now known as ‘Project Aura’, had hired a number of engineers and software developers from Amazon’s Lab126 arm, which had been responsible for some of the retailer’s most ambitious hardware projects.
