Any registered user can now track their tweets and scrutinise followers

Twitter has decided to offer its analytics tools to every single registered user for free.

Social media enthusiasts can now track things like impressions, ‘engagement rate’, link clicks and other metrics previously available only to marketers and advertisers.

The dashboard will be especially useful to bloggers, small business owners, freelancers and anyone who’s planning to monetise their online presence. It can also work wonders for your ego.

Twitter analytics is available to people who tweet primarily in English, French, Japanese or Spanish and have had an account for at least 14 days.

Unlike Facebook, Twitter doesn’t filter user feeds with an algorithm, so the performance of individual tweets actually matters, and can point towards the right way to engage your audience in the future.

The company launched a new version of the analytics dashboard in July, which included more information on ‘organic’ non-promoted messages. However, the availability was limited to paying advertisers and members with verified profiles. Now, this information is available to everyone.




The dashboard offers data on tweets posted in the last 28 days, including replies, retweets and favourites. It also contains a detailed breakdown of the audience. Have you ever wondered where the majority of your Twitter followers are from, or what their interests are? Now this information is available in simple visualisations.

There’s also a separate tab for Twitter Cards – small windows with media content which are displayed when a user clicks on certain tweets.

All of this data can be exported in a spreadsheet, and analysed further using third-party tools.

Last month, Twitter reported that its revenue grew 124 percent year-on-year, and the number of users increased by six percent.
