Blue Topaz and Green Emerald options bring a splash of colour to one of the most powerful Android devices around

Samsung has decided to get ready for summer with the announcement of two new colour schemes to brighten up its top of the range smartphones.

The South Korean manufacturer has revealed that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices will at last be available to buy in Blue Topaz and Green Emerald colour schemes respectively.

This goes alongside the initial black, white and gold editions originally announced at Mobile World Congress back in March, with all versions available with either 32,64 or 128GB of internal storage.

“Creating a new standard for design, craftsmanship and performance, Samsung’s newest flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 edge smartphones seamlessly blend premium materials with the most advanced Samsung technology to offer consumers an unmatched mobile experience in unique colours and materials,” a company blog stated.

According to Samsung, the Blue Topaz Galaxy S6 represents “the perfect fashion accessory for style-conscious consumers looking for a vibrant, expressive and distinctive colour”, and the Green Emerald Galaxy S6 Edge (pictured left) provides, “a simply stunning colour choice that meets the needs of those who want a sophisticated, yet unique looking mobile device.”

“We aim to bring a truly one-of-a-kind smartphone to consumers and provide them with a seamless combination of dynamic beauty and meaningful purpose, complementing every part of their mobile lives,” said Younghee Lee, Samsung’s executive vice president of global marketing, IT & mobile division.

Launched worldwide on April 10, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge marked a major step forward for Samsung in its continuing battle to gain top spot in the global mobile market.

And so far, they seem to have been a qualified success, with Samsung revealing that it had been taken aback at the sheer scale of demand for the devices.

Both devices feature a 5.1in QuadHD 577ppi Super AMOLED screen and two souped-up camera which the company says trounces that of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The 16MP rear and 5MP front-facing camera feature F1.9 lenses and high-resolution sensors to provide superior image quality, even in low light, thanks to new technology which combines multiple images to create the best photo.

They are powered by the world’s first 14nm 64-bit octa-core processor along with a newly-developed LPDDR4 RAM which Samsung says makes the 6.8mm thick device one of the fastest in the world.
