Nokia Lumia 920 Given November Release Date

First European pricing details revealed, but no news on UK yet

Pricing information and a release date have been revealed for the Nokia Lumia 920, which will hit shelves in November.

Nokia’s latest flagship smartphone will be released just in time for Christmas with SIM-free versions cheaper than the iPhone 5, but more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S III in some territories.

It is unclear how much operators will charge users to take the device out on a contract.

Nokia Lumia 920 release date

European networks had suggested a November release date for the Nokia Lumia 920, and the Finnish manufacturer began publishing the first batch of local pricing information on Thursday.

In Sweden, the 32Gb version will set customers back 5,700 Swedish Krone (£540) compared with the 4,515 Krone it costs to purchase a 16GB Samsung Galaxy S III. The iPhone 5 is dearer than both devices at 6,995 Krone. In the eurozone, the Lumia 920 costs €599 in Italy and €649 in Germany, more than the Galaxy S3 in both countries.

TechWeekEurope asked Nokia if there was any UK-specific pricing information, but it had not responded to requests for comment at the time of writing.

The Windows Phone 8-powered smartphone features a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, a curved 4.5-inch HD screen and an 8.7 megapixel camera. It includes support for Near Field Communication technology, 4G networks and even wireless charging.

The Lumia 920 is seen as vital for Nokia, which has sustained massive losses and is currently undergoing a period of restructuring which has seen thousands of job cuts.
