Super-flexible 2-in-1 Lenovo PC/tablet hybrid now comes in 11in and 14in models
Lenovo has taken the wraps off two new versions of its shape-shifting Yoga hybrid computer, including the largest screen yet.
The Yoga 3 convertible tablet/PC hybrid, which can be set up to work in four different positions thanks to its hinged screen, will now be available in both 11in and 14in versions, with the latter superseding the 13in Yoga 3 Pro to be the company’s largest offering in this product range so far.
Both devices mark a significant step forward for Lenovo, with the 11in version (pictured below) measuring just 15.8mm thin and weighing 1.1kg, making it the lightest Yoga yet, and the 14in version coming in at 18.3mm thick and 1.6kg.
The slimline bodies also manage to pack in some powerful specifications, with the 14in Yoga 3 able to support Intel’s fifth generation i7 Core processors, Windows 8.1, FHD screens and 802.11 A/C Wi-Fi.
Both models come with a full HD (1,920 x 1,080) display equipped for touch, a 720p webcam, two USB 3.0 ports (and a single USB 2.0 port), an SD card slot, and an HDMI output. The 11in version is able to support storage up to 256GB (SSD only) with the 14in able to support up to 500GB, although there’s no SSD option at that capacity
As with previous models, the Yoga 3 can be used as a standard laptop, or rotated to act as a touchscreen tablet device. Lenovo says it optimised the hinge to open and close more easily for the Yoga 3, and when the keyboard is rotated more than 180 degrees, it automatically disables itself.
“As users’ lifestyles evolve and change, so does our Yoga line of convertibles and tablets,” said Dilip Bhatia, vice president worldwide marketing and design, PC Group, Lenovo.
“Our latest products fuse new handwriting technologies and 3D camera technologies with the flexibility, performance and a more adaptive computing experience the Yoga family is known for. All this adds up to making the PC more and more responsive to you.”
The 11in YOGA 3 will be available to buy in Dixons, John Lewis, Amazon & Lenovo.com for £549.99 from February, with the 14in model going on sale in April starting from £649.99, with retailers still to be confirmed.
