With the inauguration of data centers in Bergamo, Italy and Warsaw, Poland, Aruba is focusing on new areas for high-performance offers and solutions within Europe.

And the facilities make commitments to the environment and eco-sustainability with structures that maximize resource efficiency without any waste.

The Cloud sector is characterized by rapid innovation and industrialization, leading to the spread of IT services across all sectors. Soon, the ‘as-a-service’ model will apply to almost all types of task: from infrastructure to services, platforms and at functional and cognitive levels.

Many traditional IT users will be able to use high-value added services that are increasingly outsourced and at the same time enjoy greater adaptability and scalability.

“The key to delivering customers the highest possible level in terms of data protection, security and satisfaction, is the sharing of regulations and standards that can be applied, used and understood by everybody. We will continue to work on the opening of the cloud ecosystem to break down the technological and bureaucratic barriers,” recently said Stefano Cecconi, CEO of Aruba, at the creation of the Open Cloud Foundation.

Much of the data, algorithms, services and infrastructure of organizations is or will be hosted by Cloud providers, thus opening the debate on ownership, control, industrial secrecy and competitive advantages (algorithms).

These aspects will be critical in preventing the inevitable ‘silo effect’. At the same time we are witnessing Cloud provider consolidation and the emergence of large groups that wield the power to create rules that restrict market fluency and ease of use.

However, consumers must be able to develop their own strategies by combining the solutions offered by the various providers and integrating the various services with those already implemented internally within their own structures.

To ensure continuous business growth, it is vital that the Cloud remains open by allowing customers to change providers and provide them with access to the capabilities of the Cloud models (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS and cognitive levels). An open Cloud is beneficial for everyone.

The Open Cloud Foundation, which Aruba has joined, is willing to provide a framework that ensures an open Cloud by bringing together providers, customers, researchers and regulatory bodies.

It will observe sectorial practices and all available means will be used to help Cloud participants head in the same direction through a collaborative approach. Each member must support the general objectives of the Open Cloud Foundation and take part in at least one of the working groups.

Aruba has opened the Global Cloud Data Center at Ponte San Pietro in the province of Bergamo and the DC-PL1 Data Center in Warsaw. The former is Italy’s largest and is an ecological structure equipped with the most modern technology.

The data center has been designed to offer the highest standards of safety and performance and ensure a high level of energy efficiency, not only to reduce the impact on the environment as much as possible, but also to ensure the quality and convenience of the services.

The Global Cloud Data Center uses a high-efficiency geothermal cooling system and it is powered by energy from renewable sources, of certified origin, alongside its own power plant and photovoltaic systems, located within the campus itself.

All systems have been designed and built to meet and exceed the highest levels of resilience provided by the ANSI/TIA 942-A Rating 4 (former Tier4) level. Located in an area of 200,000 square meters, of which 90,000 is designated for data rooms, and with five separate buildings, it is a real technology campus in which the company plans to develop other large data centers, offices, co-working spaces and a modern auditorium; all this to allow customers the widest and most comfortable evolution of their business.

The new business and ecological emphasis of Aruba Cloud is also in evidence in Warsaw. The DC-PL1 is classified tier III +, which proves its high level of reliability. This is Aruba’s eight data centre in Europe and it will serve local customers besides being an excellent starting point for further expansion in other markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

The new data center in Poland is a logical choice for the company. Since its entry into the Polish market, Aruba Cloud has acquired almost 15,000 customers and this has encouraged further investment from management. For our Polish customer base, the desire to store data in the same country is a priority.

Another element of the Aruba cloud strategy is to extend its cloud services to the east, especially in the Ukraine, where the company has found great interest in the cloud model.

The DC – PL1 is distinguished by the use of high-end technologies. In line with the global strategy of Aruba, it is equipped with an infrastructure provided exclusively by trusted manufacturers, with whom Aruba has collaborated for years in Europe. The hardware includes Dell servers, Intel (Xeon E5) processors and latest-generation SSDs, as well as the performance guaranteed by VMware solutions, the historic technology partner of Aruba with Intel.

The great attention paid to the quality of the service is highlighted by the fact that Aruba Cloud does not handle more than two virtual hosts on a single processor. This results in improved performance and increased stability of the Cloud Pro service, and this standard is applied in all Aruba Data centers.

In the Polish data center, local Aruba Cloud customers will be able to use all types of IaaS (Infrastructure as a service) services provided by Aruba in Western European markets.

These services include three types of cloud: Virtual Cloud Servers (SSD VPS), Public Cloud (Cloud Pro), and private cloud, as well as a range of tools, including a cloud backup solution.

All services are offered at promotional rates and customers who take these opportunities can enjoy the promotional conditions for the duration of use of the chosen package.

In addition to the technical strengths of the cloud-based Aruba cloud infrastructure, data security and compliance with new regulations are also extremely important.

Cloud, Public Cloud, Cloud Backup, and Cloud Object Storage services provided by Aruba Cloud are in line with the provisions of the CISPE (Cloud Infrastructure Service providers in Europe) – the coalition born between the providers of Europe,

CIPSE has set up a code of unique conduct in Europe for data protection in the cloud with the goal of making guidelines more alike in the fields of privacy, location and data security in the cloud, and ensuring their utmost protection and respect.

It is important to note that the CISPE code of conduct preceded the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and complies with the requirements of the new EU legislation that will enter into force in May 2018.

Anyone who uses Aruba Cloud solutions can, therefore, rely on the fact that the provider will not treat customer data to their own benefit, nor resell it to third parties for extracting personal information, profiling of interested parties, and marketing.

The role of the Cloud is certainly essential to Aruba and to the challenges that will involve the company in the near future.
