Is This Samsung’s Super-Sized Smartphone?

Leaked photos rumoured to show upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge+

Photos claiming to be of Samsung’s iPhone 6 Plus challenger, the Galaxy S6 Edge+,  have appeared on German site All About Samsung.

The images of the plus-sized device appear to show a dummy version of the handset that will be used for in-store displays.

It’s quite a handful, too, with the photo apparently showing it side by side and measuring up to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 phablet, meaning it’ll pack at least a 5.7 inch display.

Coming soon?

Speculation regarding new versions of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has intensified in recent months and especially since Samsung’s less-than-stellar recent results.

There’s no news on concrete release dates or prices for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ yet, (although All About Samsung is claiming an August 12 launch) but a spate of recent rumours have alleged some super-powered hardware to go along with the device’s bigger screen.

This could include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, as Samsung drops its own hardware for a tried-and-tested chip and a standard microUSB port on the device, instead of the USB Type-C port increasingly chosen by many manufacturers.

There will also be 32GB of storage, 16-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, a 3000mAh battery, and Android 5.1.1.
