Teams up with Three for its first in-store UK launch later this year
Honor has taken to the stage at Mobile World Congress to announce a significant expansion in its mobile device offerings.
The Huawei-owned brand is building out its growing smartphone range with two new devices as it looks to win customers away from the likes of HTC and Samsung.
The new smartphones are the Honor 6+, an upgraded version of its exiting Honor 6 device featuring a souped-up camera, and the mid-range Honor 4X.
And in a major step forward for the brand, it announced an exclusive deal with Three which will see its devices sold in the operators high street stores for the first time, with the 6+ available later this year, although there’s no word yet on price.
First revealed at CES 2015 back in January, the Honor 6+ (pictured left) features a 5.5in HD 1080×1920 IPS-Neo screen that will display a high quality image, no matter what angle you look at it. It also boasts an octa-core 1.8GHz Kirin 925 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Also included is a dual-lens 13MP rear camera which feature bionic parallel dual lens technology which allows for twice the light of a single lens, providing what Honor says are ‘professional quality’ photos, alongside an 8MP front camera targeted at selfie fans.
This is backed up by a rather impressive 3600mAh battery which Honor says can provide up to 2 days battery life.
Alongside the 6+, the company also revealed the Honor 4X, its first 4G smartphone with dual 64-bit software and hardware, 64-bit octa-core Kirin 620 chipset, and Android 4.4 with an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop available this summer.
The 5.5in HD device also packs in a 3000mAh battery which reportedly allows for up to two days of moderate use, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front lens, 2GB RAM and 8GB off storage.
The Honor 4X will go on sale in Q2 2015 via Amazon.co.uk and will cost £149.99.
Established just over a year ago, Honor looks to promote a ‘C2B’ (consumer to business) model that puts the customer’s demand at the centre of its production.
The company recently revealed that it had sold 30m devices worldwide during 2014, and is now looking for two million device sales in Western Europe during 2015 as it looks to be, “the leading brand in the Android world”.
