LG confirms that next flagship device will come with a fully intuitive display

LG has revealed that its next flagship smartphone will feature the company’s most intelligent screen yet as it looks to make its device open for business at all hours.

The LG G5 will come with an “always-on” display, meaning that notifications will be displayed even if the phone is switched off or is in standby mode.

The news was disclosed in a post on LG’s Facebook page, under the heading, “Never go asleep while others do. LG G5, Always ON.” A clip of a phone was then shown, displaying notification icons for the time, phone calls, text messages, calendar markers and emails.

This puts it in direct competition with Samsung, which will be announcing at least one new smartphone, most probably the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, later that afternoon.

LG confirmed last month that it plans to launch two brand new flagship smartphones, including the G5, in 2016 as it looks to claw back market share in the Android device market.

The company says that the new devices will help it stand out in what is becoming an increasingly crowded market, as a growing number of manufacturers release high-end Android devices.

This may include the upcoming G Pay mobile payments service, which may also come with an accompanying credit card, according to reports from earlier this month.

LG’s last flagship device was the G4, which was released last April to a very positive reception, although the company also revealed the V10 smartphone, the first in its V family of devices, back in October, featuring a dual-screen display and two front-facing cameras.
