14 inch Chromebook 14 for Work launched alongside new notebooks and Windows 10-powered 2-in-1 device

Acer has rolled out its most powerful Chromebook to date, claiming the cloud-based laptop can meet the needs of enterprises, governments and small businesses.

The business-focused Chromebook 14 for Work is the first Chromebook to be powered by a sixth generation Intel Core processor and has a a reported battery life of up to 12 hours.

Acer is pitching the system as ideal for ‘on the go’ workers and says it is even compliant with US military-grade standards due to advanced waterproofing and drop-testing features.

Acer Chromebook 14 for Work_CP5-471_06Weighing in at just 1.45kg and 22.4mm across, the Chromebook 14 for Work will be available with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) or HD (1366 x 768) resolution display which protects against glare.

Inside, there’s the option of 2GB, 4GB or 8GB of RAM, and 16GB or 32GB of storage, which can be boosted with the option of up to 100GB free Google Drive online storage as well.

Running on Google’s Chrome OS, there’s also a front-facing 720p webcam with 1280 x 720 resolution as well as HD audio and video recording, making the device perfect for videoconferencing, Bluetooth 4.2, an HMDI port and one USB 3.0 port for all your connectivity needs.

Switch Alpha 12_SA5-271_05There’s no information on a UK price as yet, but the Chromebook 14 for Work will cost €249 (£195) when it goes on sale in Europe next month.

Alongside the Chromebook 14 for Work, Acer also revealed a host of new consumer and commercial notebooks, the most intriguing of which is a new 2-in-1 device, the Aspire Switch Alpha 12 (pictured above), which looks to take on the likes of Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 by offering Windows 10 alongside the option of an Intel Core i7 processor, offering impressive power and all-day battery life for just €699 (£547).
