Snapdragon 810, Microsoft Office and Android Lollipop make the Xperia Z4 a perfect business tool

Sony has made sure it’s not missing out on any of the Mobile World Congress fun by launching its heavily-anticipated Xperia Z4 tablet.

The 10.1in device looks to take on the likes of Apple’s iPad Air and Google’s Nexus 9 by offering a super-slim build that is chock-full of powerful hardware, as Sony goes all-out in the tablet market.

As expected, the Xperia Z4 is somewhat of a powerhouse, featuring Qualcomm’s super-powered 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.0GHz, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which can be boosted up to 128GB via microSD.

There’s also an 8.1MP camera featuring 8x digital zoom and FullHD video recording alongside a 5.1MP front camera, Bluetooth 4.1, and a meaty 6000mAh battery which Sony says will offer up to 17 hours of video playback.

Sony says the Xperia Z4’s high-resolution display is the world’s brightest for a tablet, and it will also support playing PS4 games stored on your home console, much like the Xperia Z3 before it, as well as featuring Dualshock 4 controller capability for a powerful home gaming experience.

The display is scratch resistant, and the Xperia Z4 is also waterproof and dust resistant up to IP65 and IP68 ratings, meaning it will be able to easily cope with outside use.

It will be available in two editions – one featuring LTE capability alongside traditional Wi-Fi connectivity, and one just with Wi-Fi. The Xperia Z4 will run Android Lollipop 5.0, but includes Sony’s Xperia Email, Calendar and Contacts apps, which can be synced using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, allowing users to work from anywhere.

At just 6.1mm, it’s as thin as Apple’s iPad Air 2, and weighs just 393g, meaning it’s easy to carry around to meetings, although the Wi-Fi only edition will be a couple of grams lighter.

To appeal further to businesses, Sony has also decided to add a Bluetooth keyboard, the BKB50 keyboard to bring, “a premium laptop experience” to using the Xperia Z4.

The Xperia Z4 Tablet will launch globally in black or white, in 4G LTE and Wi-Fi variants, from June 2015.
