Ericsson Acquires Data Centre Automation Startup NodePrime
Ericsson says all-cash purchase is ‘strategic’ to its cloud offering, integrates NodePrime’s software into Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000
Ericsson has acquired NodePrime, a startup that helps businesses manage their data centre operations.
NodePrime, based in San Francisco, was already used by Ericsson before it came out of stealth in September 2015 when it raised $7 million in funding from a varity of investors.

Terms of the all-cash deal were not disclosed, but NodePrime’s employees are set to join Ericsson as the latter’s Hyperscale Datacenter System 8000 integrates with NodePrime’s software services.
Specifically, NodePrime’s software platform enables discovery, analysis and automated configuration of existing and new data centre hardware platforms.
Ericsson said that this functionality allows data centres to become hyperscale and adopt distributed infrastructure.

In October 2014, Ericsson made a similar acquisition of American infrastructure intelligence provider Sentilla Corp.
Ericsson said its reasons for the purchase were spurred on by he traditional data centre environment facing ongoing challenges when adapting to new workload demands, such as cloud-based applications and mobility.
