XMPie Version 3 Release
XMPie, the leader in Personalisation software, have announced the release of new versions of each of the products across their extensive range.
Paul Rowley , Sales Director of Silicon Systems, says "we have been impressed with the range and depth of new features that these new versions have introduced across the XMPie range. We believe that this only takes XMPie further away from the rest of the field of variable data technologies."
New features in the new versions:
X-DOT Technology
In uDirect Version 3, the application of XMPie Dynamic Object Transparency (X-DOT) technology has been automated, eliminating the extra steps previously required when designers wanted to ensure that the transparency and drop shadows print reliably in their VDP documents.
Enhanced Text Wrapping
In uDirect Version 3, text can be wrapped in different ways, according to dynamic images. This feature is also supported for object groups.
Master Page Elements and AutoFlow Support
In uDirect Version 3, both static and dynamic (variable) elements on InDesign Master Pages and AutoFlow molds are now supported.
Barcode Generation
In uDirect Version 3, a suite of barcode generation functions is now available.
New uDirect Premier Edition 3
A new uDirect Premier Edition sits on top of the uDirect range and now includes uImage where you create personalized photographs and graphics with leading design applications, and streamline their use and uStore which allows you to conveniently take the VDP documents created with uDirect and post them online for customization and purchasing.
Rush Proof Jobs
This new function in PersonalEffect Version 3 enables proofing jobs to take priority. If a job is running but a proof needs to be created urgently, the job can be temporarily put on hold whilst the proof is created. As soon as the proof is done the job automatically comes back on line.
Web Services
The PersonalEffect APIs are now available in the form of Web Services. This new technology is available to develop new applications that interact with the PersonalEffect platform.
uProduce Dashboard
The uProduce Dashboard’s usability has been improved, with features such as multiple selection.
Database Upgrade
The database is now an MS SQL 2005 Express Edition (included in purchase) or on a licensed MS SQL 2005 Enterprise database.
Interactive Content Ports
In PersonalEffect Cross Media Edition Interactive Content Ports (ICPs) allow any Web development program that connects to a standard data source to connect to the XMPie ADOR objects.
uStore Version 2.0
This version introduces a powerful plug-in architecture that enables extending uStore’s core features and capabilities. This architecture allows integration of uStore with other business systems by developing a plug-in for such integrations, and enables developing plug-ins to address your specific needs.
uStore Product Specification and Pricing Systems
uStore’s pricing module includes enhancements such as the ability to connect to an external data source in order to obtain pricing information, an advanced pricing model, invoice or credit payment type selection and a new efficient product search.
uImage Version 2.0 Features
uImage allows you to create personalized photographs and graphics with leading design applications, and streamlines the use of these graphic files in dynamic documents (for example, via uCreate).
In addition to the previously-supported Adobe Photoshop CS2 templates, uImage now supports Adobe Illustrator CS2 templates, using the same workflow. As a result, a single dynamic document can now include both Illustrator-based and Photoshop-based personalized images.
